Is it okay to use a banner as your business sign long term? In a word, no, they are CHEAP! Okay, I said it. But, is there anything else to say on the subject? Of course there is! Each circumstance is diffe
rent and therefore the solution to your problem of signage is going to be different.
The general rule is that banners are used for marketing purposes to attract attention to an event, such as a sale. Having said that, they can also be used longer term to advertise your business. They allow you to provide much more information to the viewer and with the advent of digital printing, in full color as well.
In all honesty they are a poor choice for your main sign for your business. You certainly can use them short term while waiting for your sign but they are really not an alternative to a permanent sign. Why?
Because everyone knows that in the world of signs, banners are cheap and if you use a banner long term that is exactly the word that will come to mind when they see your banner sign month after month. They may think you are unsuccessful so you cannot afford a sign. They may think you are just cheap and therefore not a good candidate to have a business relationship with. All of these are negative and not what you want people to think of your business.
So, you are just starting out or as we all know, times are tough, what can you do that is going to be professional but inexpensive? There are ways that can keep the costs down while presenting the right message to your potential customers. Call me today to discuss the options that could work for your particular situation. Installation at Summer Creek was done this past week and the week leading up to the installation was a busy one as we wrapped up the loose ends. It seemed like we had stacks of displays everywhere that were ready to be packed up for their trip south.
The displays for this particular sales center were really nicely designed. Holly Sinclair over at Pulte Homes was responsible for that. Good job, Holly!
One of the interesting things that we suggested and was decided we should do it, was edge the large lifestyle pieces in stained maple. It was quite striking.
There was one error that I think I want to address. When deciding on the color of the wood backers were focused on closely matching a maple plot table that was being used. Of course we only had a photo of it and since everyone’s computer monitor is different, we were under the impression that we had nailed it. Come to find out, once Brandon is down in Oregon that darker would have been better.

Most things are now complete but we are still working on the sample boards and finishing up the impact logo. The frames are complete for the sample boards and the frames were adhered to the back this morning. They are now drying.
The artwork is beginning to come off the printer for Vintage, a new community coming to Lynnwood. Being built by Pulte Group (Pulte/Centex), they will be ready for sale the first week of December.
I cannot remember how many times I have worked so hard to bring a job in and the feeling of victory I felt once the order was written and production began. Of course, those are exciting moments but it’s important to remember that the small jobs should also be celebrated for they are the life’s blood of a sign company.
