When You Write a Post, Who Are You Writing For?

So often posts are nothing more than the ramblings of someone who wants to tell everyone else about their latest and greatest project or invention…they are writing for themselves.

Reaching Your Readers

Do you write because you want to shout from the rooftops about how successful your last project was or how happy you are about something you have just completed? If that is the case then you are writing for the wrong audience.

Who is your audience? What do you know about them?

When you write a post, put yourself in the shoes of your reader and write not what you think they want to know but answer their unasked questions. Right, that sounds easy, doesn’t it?

In many ways, it is easy. Your blog will attract people that want to know what you know about. In order to keep them reading your blog you need to keep providing them with the information they are seeking. In order to do that, here are a couple questions to ask yourself.

  1. Am I writing something that is focused on my specialty?
  2. Is what I’m writing relative to the my audience?
  3. Is my post tight and focused?
  4. Am I writing this from my need to brag or to help my readers?

Of course there are other questions you can ask yourself but if you ask the above questions and honestly answer you will know if your post hits the target or needs to be round filed.

Blogging is not an easy task and one that should not be undertaken lightly. If you find that you need help in either ghost writing or straight blog writing, e-mail us todayand let us show you how easy it is.

Yea, You Have Great Ideas!

As an entrepreneur you have some great ideas. About the company you want to build, about the clients you want to serve, about the image you create for your company. The problem lies in finding someone to help you put your ideas into play by finessing them.

How do you find such a person or such a company? How do you know which one to choose?

  • Don’t hire a yes-man. You need honesty first and foremost
  • If they love all your ideas, beware.
  • Ask the question why – a lot!
  • Ask what their limitations are and what happens if you hit that point
  • Depending on what needs to be done be careful if they are too much in a hurry or promise you very short time lines.
  • Check out their blog. Is everything they do or say a sales pitch or do they offer good information?

You do have great ideas and if you take it slow and really listen, you will find the right person or company to help you develop those ideas.

So Much To Learn – So Little Time

Ever find yourself reading at lightening speed trying to absorb what you need to know in the shortest amount of time? Or you find that what you need to know is in the middle of the learning curve instead of the beginning? Feeling a bit frustrated?

The web is no longer a simple place and what one needs to learn to successfully have a web presence and make money online can be overwhelming. Been there. Done that. Wasn’t fun.

How do you get the things done you need to get done and still have the time to do what you are truly talented at? Three options.

  1. Hire someone to teach you what you need to know
  2. Hire someone to do the things that are outside your area of expertise
  3. Take the time on your own and learn what you need to know

It’s not an easy choice for your first thought is probably to learn it on your own and that would be the wrong choice. Why?

Because if you spend all that time to learn things that are not directed related to your area of expertise, then you are not using your time wisely. You are not using your time to make money. It is therefore, unproductive time.

Roday offers services aimed at the small company that does not have the staff to do everything. From setting up company blogs to blogging for companies; website design and copy writing; technical support and training.

Isn’t it time to stay focused on what you do best and let someone else handle the clutter?

Are You Leaving Money on the Table?

What other products or services do your clients need or want that you are not supplying? In the current economic environment you cannot afford to leave money on the table.

Banner for a Printing Partner

Unfortunately, because so many people are self-employed, they do not have the staff to supply other services or products. So how do you supply additional services or products? You partner.

Some companies, such as Roday, partners with small companies or individuals that need additional resources but are reluctant or unable to hire a permanent staff. Roday acts like a department beneath the company name of the client or individual. It brands the work they do with their client’s brand, not their own.

If you work alone or with a small staff, consider filling the gaps in your services or products with a silent partner that provides what you need under your brand. All of a sudden you become competitive with larger organizations.

Please leave a comment if you have a question about silent partners and how it can enhance your business. You can certainly call us at 425.397.8885 or email us at connect@roday.com.

What Are Your Windows Doing For You?

If they are not driving business, then they are pretty much useless.  Window space is like FREE advertising space and yet, so many businesses do not take advantage of it.  Why?

  • They think it is too expensive.
  • They do not know what to put on their windows.
  • They have all the customers they need (cough cough), like that is possible!
Window Graphics

Digital print window covering

Although there is expense in doing your windows, there are some low cost options and the return on your investment is HUGE!

If you have decided to use your windows to help drive more traffic to your store, where do you start?  Here are some things to get you going in the right direction.

  • Decide on the message you want to send.
  • Is it a seasonal or short term message or is it ageless and is more aimed at building a long term brand?
  • Make sure the message is clear, concise and SHORT.
  • Talk to a professional about what materials should be used. There are options for window graphics; all with benefits and trade-offs. You want to select the right thing.

Regardless of what route you take with your windows, get some direction first.  If your message is not on target or the graphics are not right for the place and message, it can be a costly mistake.  Make sure that you understand the materials that will be used and how they differ and what makes it the best choice for your application.

If you have any questions about window graphics, please leave a comment and the Roday Team will address it. Of course, you can also give us a call at 425.397.8885 or contact us via e-mail at connect@roday.com.

Creating The Vision

Graphic Designers create all sorts of displays but someone has to make them. Roday creates the vision dreamed up by the designer.

Trade Show Display

86" x 54" digital print

This particular piece was created for the central panel of a trade show booth. Digitally printed on a smooth scrim, this digital print is stunning at 86×54.

Roday works with many designers in creating their concepts.  Some jobs require the designing of how something is to be built for often concepts do not readily transfer into dimensional displays.

Have a concept that needs someone to bring it to a successful conclusion?  Roday will work with you closely to engineer it, build it, or develop it. Whatever it takes.

Contact us today to get a bid on your project or call us direct at 425.397.8885.

The Way It Was

You only have mere seconds to catch the attention of a website visitor and you cannot afford to waste it. The following will help you write so that you can cut the clutter and get to the point.

  • Make it straight forward. If you can say it in 7 words instead of 22, go with 7.
  • Keep it simple. Stop with the big words that really do not impress anyone.
  • Keep it focused. Do not stray off subject.
  • Use bullet pointswhere you can. It quickly highlights your message.
  • Break up the copy into short paragraphs. It makes it easier to read and is easily scanned.

People do not read on the web like they would a magazine or a newspaper article. They have come to your website for information. If they cannot easily scan the page and pick out what they are looking for, they leave.

Locate & Scan

Stop your visitors from moving on by providing them the info they need. If you are struggling with your website copy or your blog Roday can assist. Email Daye Salander at daye@roday.com or call her at 425.397.8885.

Marketing Signage Focuses on Target Market

We recently finished the signage for a new apartment building on

View 222 Apartments

lower Queen Anne (Seattle, for those you not familiar with the area). The building is called View 222. Although the name may be a bit difficult to figure out, it really does say it all because of the views.

We were brought in to do a marketing package of signage and what we have is basically a blank slate. The only thing we had was the image of the space needle that we created for their interior sign package. The colors we had used were neutral so there was not even a color scheme developed for marketing.

So, when faced with a blank slate, where do you begin?

  • Consider the architecture of the building. Is it classic or urban or retro or…? In this case it is kind of an urban cosmopolitan.
  • Consider the color and finishes used in the building. This building includes a beautiful mahogany wall with a strong but dusky blue accent wall in the entry.
  • Walk the building and get a feel for it. Is it cozy or airy; rich or comfortable?
  • Next, you must take into consideration the target market.
    • Is the future renter single? Do they have a significant other or are they a single parent?
    • What is their income? A better question might be is how much money do they need to make to live in this apartment building?
    • What is their average age?
    • Are they male or female?
    • What kind of work do they do? Do they occupy a desk all day or are they more “hands on”?
  • Begin to relate the assets of the building to the target market.
    • Are the garden areas important to them?
    • How about the views?
    • Do they care that there are beautiful stone floors except for the bedrooms?
    • Are women going to crave the large walk-in closets?
    • How about being pet friendly?
    • What about the great kitchens and the large windows?

Stunning Views

Real thought needs to go into the presentation of a building. It is important to focus your marketing efforts to get the highest return possible and it is best to bring in someone who can take your ideas and develop them further to merge the assets of the building to the desires of your target market.

Roday works with you as part of your team, taking your vision that you have for your building and turning it into a marketable and highly desired end product. Whether your project is new construction or a face lift, we can assist you in creating a strong presence with high visibility.

Give Daye Salander a call today at 425.397.8885 with questions you may have on your building and how to raise its visibility and making it more desirable to your target market.
